UX RESCUE TEAM
TIMELINE & PROCESS
During these 17 weeks, the UX Rescue team followed this process to understand the organization's challenge and how to approach & obtain a solution.
THE CHALLENGE
After having an initial call with our stakeholder, they outlined three main concerns for their existing website.
First, there were not enough donations to support their humanitarian efforts.
Second, relevant information was difficult to find on their site.
Third, their current UI and branding was not aligned with their expansion efforts.
THE APPROACH
We conducted surveys, a content audit, a competitive analysis, and a card sort with tree testing.
User surveys allowed us to understand motivations behind donating and volunteering. Our studies showed that we needed to highlight the mission, increase the transparency and credibility of the organization. Lastly, clear calls to actions will help guide future users to donate or volunteer.
Through our content audit and competitive analysis, we identified key problem areas in the current VCN website and compared it with other emergency response websites in the space.
The card sort and tree test helped to better define and categorize information on our new site redesign.
THE OUTCOME
We handed our designs and walked through our recommendations with our stakeholders.
So far, some UI changes were made to the existing site. VCN leadership confirmed that the implementation of our proposed changes is currently in the works with their development team, and they're hoping to incorporate the full changes soon.
We're looking forward to seeing those updates in the near future!
